How Love Goes

How Love Goes

Well I sat and thought it over

I should have left there yesterday

When I saw that I couldn’t help you none

Right then I shoulda walked away

But my love for you once was all  I knew

Seems you had a different point of view

You always did everything your way

And that ain’t how love goes

Now I’m gone away and you are there

And still doin things your way

And its true my life is different now

Than it was just yesterday

So the next time that you love again

Just think about our end

Learn from this hard lesson done

Cause that’s just how love goes

You know love goes on forever

It just changes partners now and then

It seems some get tired of dancing

With the same one so often

But the dancers keep on dancing

Just a different tune

And I’m without a partner now

Guess that’s just how love goes

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
