South of Who Knows Where
On a lonesome empty highway winding on to who knows where
I wonder where this road’s gonna end, and when will I get there.
Now I'm lost between my present, and another life that I let go.
Yea I took a wrong turn in Albuquerque I should’ve headed for Mexico
This old forgotten road I’m on now is the only scar upon the land
And I'm listening to some AM station wondering where the hell I am.
Yea I'm lost in time between two different lives, still not sure which way to go.
I sure messed up my life up back when I took that wrong turn years ago.
Now I'm wondering where I'll end up next and guess I’ll know when I get there.
But I'm pretty sure my road will carry me to somewhere south of who knows where.
And In an empty motel on a lonely road you know that’s where I spent last night.
I walked a few miles there across the floor just waiting for the first day light.
And on the following day I spent driving away out from under my cloudy sky.
Perhaps I can find that one turn I missed, I may not, but I have to try.
No I won’t worry about what tomorrow brings, there’s no reason now and I don't care.
Cause I'm pretty sure tomorrows gonna find me there, somewhere south of who knows where.
Now I can't recall why I stayed around so long, or why I was hanging on.
And I can’t remember where I spent that time, now I’m wondering where it’s gone.
And I wonder if there are some more good times left, yea now that’s my only care.
But I'll find an answer to that question there.... somewhere south of who knows where.
