Crying in my dream

  • today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday

Crying in my dream

The crowd rushes in smiling faces abound
Joyous and festive music bellows from every inch of this place
The sun makes their eyes sparkle like diamonds.
Citrus trees and honeysuckle blow in the wind
The sweet smells of edible creations and lilac
Kissing, hugging bodies swinging and swaying
Laughter sings from them
They seem to be intoxicated by happiness.

I stare at the people as they swim in this sea of glee

Alone I stand frozen in the middle of their pleasure

I am crying
Aware that I am sleeping
Aware that I am crying
Aware that I am dreaming

Crying in my dream
Crying in my happy dream
Unaware of the cause of my tears
Are they of happiness or sorrow

Then I wake with dry eyes
Laying as the sunlight washes over me I reach out and only pillows cradle me.

I then became fully Aware

Very smoothly composed. Subtlety (to me) always makes the message stronger.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
