Joshua Tree

Joshua Tree

I may look dead
I may be bent over
I may be hanging to one side or the other
I may appear fragile
My limbs may look wither and brown
My body maybe lean
My very tips may scratch at the ground
I am not tall or massive
I am not painted with the colors of the rainbow

But

I need very little to survive and grow
I am strong and mighty in my own right
Look closer at me I am bearing fruit
Most of my life I am reaching towards the heavens
I am shading the driest of lands
I grow wild and stand sturdy in environments that others can not even take roots
I can stand alone in the harsh of elements
My beauty is unique and unmistakeable
I may look as if the end of my life is near
But look closer and you will see I am only just blooming

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
