Forever New

Forever New
by
Kelly M. Kirkpatrick

Take peace
To those who choose to know you.
Take care
In all you choose to do.
Take time
To stop and smell the roses.
In dreams,
We are forever new.

There is a time
Before the battle rages
When all is silent
The earth seems pure and new.
Dawn signals us
To our impending victory.
We leave our brothers
Reposing in the dew.
Why have we come
To this forsaken island
Where our blood
Is soaked up by the sand?
Is this the fate
Of those who came before us?
Did we need
To take this final stand?

Seek peace
In every situation.
Respect the Earth
who once did give us life.
Take time
To recognize your brothers,
And share with all
Your blessings not your strife.

There was a child
Who offered us direction,
But we have turned
And fallen on our sword.
Were we just blind
And looking for protection?
This was not promised
In our sacred accord.
Does it matter
Redemption or revival?
If we can love,
Why do we choose to fight?
It’s not that we’re
Accustomed to the winning.
There is no glory
If neither side is right.

Take peace
To those who choose to know you.
Take care
In all you choose to do.
Take time
To stop and smell the roses.
In dreams,
We are forever new.

Very good poetry. It sounds like song and content is very meaningfull. Only "smell the rozes" used by so many others

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
