    Genocide

    Genocide
    by
    Kelly M. Kirkpatrick

    The night that’s slowly coming
    Echoes in shadows past.
    Hate conceives the winners
    And leaves the lovers last.
    Injustice breeds injustice;
    America stands on wealth,
    Deciding which injustice
The blade of fate has felt.

Why must we learn of war
    To justify our peace?
Why must we live in fear
    When fear we have conceived?

In countries far alien to us
We force our way of life,
    Teaching the life monopoly
    And giving peace the knife.
    We stand on hollow ground
    And sing our empty songs.
    Money makes us right,
    And God forgives us wrong.

Why must we learn of war
    To justify our peace?
Why must we live in fear
    When fear we have conceived?

    This is America,
    Land of wealth and pride,
Giving out its hate for rent
    And promoting genocide.

Wow! Once again I will follow your words to the ends of the earth. I have only this craft and you create magic with it. From someone who takes writing as his religion, I don't often comment on other poets works, but I found light when I read this.

Poetry is what is lost in translation.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
