    Fashion Statement
    by
    Kelly M. Kirkpatrick

    Hey you,
    Look at me.
    I’m a fashion statement,
    All you want to be
And all you need to know.
    Hey girl,
    Check me out,
    Take me to your party.
    Reveal yourself to me
So I can rock your world.

    I have got
    A long dark limousine.
It takes me to the fines clubs in town.
When I walk through the door,
The music just seems to stop.
The ladies, they just gather ‘round.
    I motion to the band
    To continue with the song
As I proceed to get my body down,
    But when I awake,
    The party is over.
I look to find no one is around

    Don’t funk it up.
    Don’t funk it up.
    Don’t funk it up.
(Boy don’t you funk it up.)
    Don’t funk it up.
    Don’t funk it up.
    Don’t funk it up.
(Boy don’t you funk it up.)

    Give it up.
    Don’t need no loneliness.
    Give it up.
    Just need to get undressed.
    Give it up.
    Just want a warm caress.
I just need to get my...
    (Get yourself a beer.)

    Hey you,
    Look at me.
    I’m a fashion statement,
    All you are today
And all you think you know.
    Hey girl,
    Check me out.
    Take me to your bedroom.
    Reveal yourself to me
So I can rock your world.

When you’re alone with your lady,
Look her straight in the eye.
Tell her that you love her,
And then give her a reason why.
You don’t need no Playboy magazine.
You don’t need no bump and grind.
You just need to get to know her
And how to treat her kind.

    I said
    Give it up.
    Don’t need no loneliness.
    Give it up.
    Just need to get undressed.
    Give it up.
    Just want a warm caress.
I just need to give my...
    (Give yourself to her.)

    Let me look at you,
    You’re a fashion statement.
    You are beautiful
    So let the world know.
    Hey girl,
    Dance with me.
    Take me to tomorrow.
    Reveal the truth to me
So I can rock the world.

seems like you are adressing the popular thing to do at the time here. really doing what others think is cool? def reminds me of a song you hear on pop radio. i think thats what you were going for, right? dont wanna misread.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
