John, you mystfy me! I'm thinking of several menings of "to bawg the dogs?

" To bag the dogs." This used to be a method ,in old Jamaica, to take pigs and dogs from rural country to a town market. The animals were put in crocus bags and taken on trucks or train ,along with rural farmers and higglers to town. ............lol In fact, you could not transport your dog nor pig on the train or bus or truck, unless you put the animal in a bag.........lol.

I had an uncle, a RAF ex-serviceman, who delighted in silencing or subduing barking dogs,by barking and rushing at them/! ................lol. He once bit a dog that attacked him!............lol. Of course, the dog also bit him, and ran! ..........lol. No, he wasn't crazy. Just mischievous and drunk , most of the time..................lol.

This is way to funny, lmao, he reminds me of Leroy, lol.

Re: We 21st Century Poets!

Hey, cousin is it really 4 AM there in Kingston...how do you do it ? I'm still wondering if Word will define his use of the phrase...Bawg the Dawg. Maybe he means...Ball the doll, or walk the dog, or maybe, put a bag over the gal who looks like a dog. I think I'll ice the puck on that, and just slide away before I begin to melt again.

hmmm long face red face

Re: We 21st Century Poets!

Oh, ok, That makes sense.
I think a show of that kind would be interesting.
And you are right Faith, poetry does seem to be a dying art.
Which is very sad.

I slept earlier to fool the mosquitoes................lol. They found me awake the damn vampires.!

"Bawg the dawg" has a lot of possibilities for interpretation. but WordSlinger isn't saying anything. He keeps his poetic tongue hidden in his poetic cheek.

Re: We 21st Century Poets!

It is simple Irish, I wrote a poem so everyone can understand, I have it handy, lets seee...it is titled:

IS

Was is
what is was,
because time walks.

That is why
earth time spirals,
and as time moves it talks.

Heed what was does
and was with is do say
and avoid hours of sorrow.

Walk with me today,
lets' see why yesterday
after each day must become tomorrow.

Heel with me now,
as time moves geared clocks,
let us listen to time's sound and let us pray.

Re: We 21st Century Poets!

Re: We 21st Century Poets!

I think I see what you meant to say, but you didn't say it was what you didn't say, and now I'm thinking that you didn't...................WHAT THE HECK shock

10-18-2009 at 11:35:10 PM

Re: We 21st Century Poets!

Well, I'll give you this Grito, I'm totally stumped.
It twisted my mind up, and I'm having a hard time figuring out what it means.
I wish I understood it so I could tell you how much I like it.

10-18-2009 at 11:41:04 PM

Re: We 21st Century Poets!

LOL! Hugs Irish!! And Gogant, now you have me confused!!

10-18-2009 at 11:49:44 PM

Re: We 21st Century Poets!

So you gonna clue me in?
Because I wanna understand.

10-19-2009 at 12:05:44 AM

Re: We 21st Century Poets!

Ok Irish.
Time is relative. We can say that today is, because it is today. Yesterday was, because it was. However, we are always in today (is), but we can see that yesterday (was) used to be is, when yestyerday was today. Therefore, was (yesterday) was is (today). But where did it go, that is that is now was? It went to yesterday (became yesterday) because times walks, it does not wait. The present tense is a perspective we have been taught to accept as fixed but it always moving, changing. What once was is (today) is now was (yesterday). The Bible states that there is a time for everything under the sun, a time to laugh, a time to cry, a time to scatter stones, a time to gather stones together. Time moves inexoribly, just as time, each moment, has a place for us, a meaning, if we can decipher that meaning, that time table. God is our guide for us to know the appropriate time for all things, when to laugh, when to marry, when to die and live forever. We just have to listen, carefully.
Let us pray we listen.

Re: We 21st Century Poets!

Hey Grits, the first half of that had me laughing out loud...that was truly fuuuuunnnny. Thanks, I needed that 'cause I've been waiting for yesterday to get here so I can say it was.

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: We 21st Century Poets!

Ok. I think I get it now.
Was was and is is.
And was used to be is.
Past and present tense are relative and fluid.
I think I have a headache... shut eye

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
