I am a Guard Girl

Poem Commentary

GO COLOR GUARD!

I am a Guard Girl

I am in the Guard
It is where I belong.
There is no other
group or throng.

All I know
is "twirl this" and "dance that"
And I do it all
with the grace of a cat.

I thrive on sabres,
rifles, and poles.
Bruises and bumps
adorn my skull

Guard girl I am
and I stand proud and tall
There's nothing I wouldn't do
to give my all.

To give my all
and then some more.
There's no other way
to enter that door.

At Perfection's door
I knock and plead.
I aim for it's glory-
I sweat and I bleed.

I am in the Guard
and this is my creed.
To have that card
of Perfection's breed.

A very nice poem, expressing the inner sight aim for the perfection that is good and the pain in sight very well smelled. -ay'yan

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
