Illusions Of My Marriage

My illusions of my marriage
were shattered today.
He said he had no memory
of times we laughed and played.

My illusions of my marriage
were way off base.
All the time I spent on love
turned out to be a waste.

My illusions of my marriage
were simply false.
He could have kept it to himself.
The wound had begged for salt.

My illusions of my marriage
kept me alone.
I thought he would return for me
and give me back my home.

My illusions of my marriage
were shattered today.
The figments of the voices scorned
have nothing left to say.

Absolutely great, no wasted words here, too many good lines here to pick just one. I'll work backwards with your material, give me time, be well

I'm always amazed at how one person in a relationship, can feel so opposite from the other, and the truth is never known. It seems that every time I've been in love, I was being lied to. Many people will be able to relate to this well written piece - 10 from me

"My illusions of my marriage were simply false. He could have kept it to himself. The wound had begged for salt" — this is poetically masterful. A powerful write!! Bravo!!

Thanks so much!

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
