  • My own two favorite poems are "Train of Defeat" and "The Story of Sorrow"

Past Future

"History repeats itself", I've heard them say.
That's not going to happen to me todday.
I've changed my life.  I've turned around.
The paper binds it.  I'm tied and bound.
I'll walk a new path to change my ways.
Distant memories of the good ol days.
But as I start, I turn to look back.
Don't look back!  I should've known that.
I turn from my past and look at the new.
I realize there's something familiar about you.
What's this I see as I look past your eyes?
I suck in my breath as I stifle my cries.
Those distant memories are not as they say.
I'mlivingmypast.
Right here.
Today.

Nice thought process. A little simplistic. Your idea is good keep working.

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.
