Letting Go

Poem Commentary

Written as original lyrics. There's music in my head to go with it, but sadly I can't write music, only words.

Letting Go

He likes to believe that he's invincible.
As he lies on the floor nothing hurts anymore,
And the space in between what's real and make believe
Is a blur and he forgets the way things have to be.

We all have our demons,
And right now you're mine.
You act like a drug,
And I can not act fine.
We try to hold on,
But we know we can't survive.
We know we can't survive.

Each day passes by, it's funny how time flies,
And he waits, and he dies a little more inside.
He can't change, can't undo all that he wishes to
As it all slips away that he prayed not to lose.

We all have our demons,
And right now you're mine.
You act like a drug,
And I can not act fine.
We try to hold on,
But we know we can't survive.
We know we can't survive.

He can't give in
He can't hold back
I can't decide
How to react

He can't let go
He can't hold on
I can't pretend
It isn't gone

So live your life and I'll live mine,
Someway, somehow, we will survive.

This does sound like lyrics of a song, and if it had the write singer or band it would make a fortune. A very well written piece.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
