The Fallen One

Poem Commentary

To blind to see the reality of the monster hiding deep inside me.

The Fallen One

I thought I was your angel,
Your ever burning light,
To guide you through the darkness,
And make your wrongs seem right.

But now I see more clearly,
It never was that way.
What I thought made it better,
Only led you more astray.

You were everything I wanted,
And I took so selfishly.
My inner world ruling,
Playing out my fantasy.

I knew I caused you pain,
I could see it in your eyes,
But I convinced myself,
Your embrace was more than lies.

Now I watch you walk away,
Dreaming of what cannot be,
As I slowly realize,
The real demon here is me.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
