Lost But Not Forgotten

Poem Commentary

To all those I've loved and lost. Who's numbers are far too high. May you rest in peace, And be waiting for me on the other side.

Lost But Not Forgotten

Don't get close.
It's not that I don't care,
Or that I won't,
Allow this heart to love,
But love's cursed.
When you're close say good-bye.
Around me those I love die.
Dropping like flies in the night,
Chilled, killed by winter's sigh.
Lost beneath darkened skies,
Lives cut short,
Burned out before the sun could rise.
Here I wait, left behind,
With only their ghosts.
In my mind I raise a toast,
To the lost, departed souls,
Expired before their time,
Because of this curse,
Because of this fate-filled love of mine.

"In my mind I raise a toast, To the lost, departed souls, Expired before their time"—surrealism lives! —bravo!

Poetry is what is lost in translation.
