My Life

My life's in shambles
but you couldn't tell looking at me
eternal smile on my lips
freacking positive attitude
to hide the pain
Here I go again
"all is well" or "all will be well"
while I tumble in dispair
My usual words
"there is light at the end of the tunnel"
stare at me....
while the common response
rises to my brain:
"Yeah, it's a damn train!"
Lots of it I brought on myself....
....don't we all?
So difficult to undo, erase, forget
I can't forget
my sweetest friend
who for all intents and purposes
is gone
Sharp pain where my heart used to be
and it's hard to breathe.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
