My Phantom

My Phantom

Watching over me,

I sleep peacefully.

Your presence by my side,

keeps the nightmares at bay.

I know you're not really here,

but I feel you anyways.

Prowling the shadows,

always waiting and watching.

Protecting me from myself,

from my own imagination.

That private hell I created,

full of worry and regret.

You chase away the fear,

and bring me contentment.

With eyes that see my demons,

and make them quiver in fright.

My very own phantom,

my unseen guardian.
