My Thirst For You

                                      My Thirst For You
                                      By: Sandra Rains
I know I've been here before
and turned my heart away from you
I know I've asked a hundred times
But never believed it would come true
I know I've been bad at times
and even ungrateful I admit
But Lord my thirst is strong now
If you would give me just one sip
I am but a sinner, it's true
I lie, cheat and steal
I turn a deaf ear to you at times
afraid of what I might hear
I am but a black sheep
grazing in a spread of  fields
dying for a drink and praying
For my thirst is strong willed
Lord I'm sure you know me
I have talked to you many times
I have cried and complained for years
I have begged you to heal my mind
This time Lord I am certain
I can not do it alone, by myself
If you would please forgive me
and bless me with your help
I would not turn away again
I would be a better friend
I would not shun the needy
I would begin again
I promise Lord, to listen
When I hear your voice in my head
Lord, it's just that my thirst is deep
and gets deeper with each word said
Lord I think you're beautiful
though I've never seen your face
But I feel you in my heart and mind
and have witnessed your sweet grace
Lord I think I love you
No..I know I truly do
For Lord I can not satisfy
this deep Thirst without you
So please, heal me, Jesus
make me want to live the life I need
A drink from you is all I ask
You are my key to eternity

We all need to tirst after God, the LIving God. As in Psalm 119, to run the way of His precepts and be satisfied with His word and His presence. Amen to all you wrote. Thanks, Sandra for being so clear concerning your fatih in HIm. A very compeilling read as the days draw near to His advent. He gives living water and we need never thirst for the world anymore.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
