Open Sky

It gets dark in the depths of dispair
We're not young anymore
Gone are the days of carefree pleasure
Off the schoolbus and into the brilliant afternoon
Now it's workplace politics, sinister cohorts,
And the game of grin-and-bare-it
Only you know your pain, intense and personal
Verbalizing it to friends comes off as trivial
Dispair is a cancer and spreads to depression
From depression to desperation...relentless, consuming
Ignoring phone calls, staying home, crappy movies
Comforting yourself with negative commentary
Everybody's fake, only you're for real
It's a pond we all swim in from time to time
But there's always a bouy nearby or a life raft en route
Some are willing to pull themselves to freedom
Some choose to float in the muck until it pulls them down
Grab the line, friend, grab the line
It's an distant acquaintance who hasn't forgotten you
It's a relative who never quit praying for you
It's a sunset that was created for your eyes only
It's a perfect lover you have yet to cross paths with
It's a child who needs you more than you think
It's a hurting soul who will need YOU to be the line someday
Grab that line.

Myfather died with cancer and I unfortunately met Mr. Cancer. Beautiful words to practice them all.

I do love this one! I have a friend that needs to hear my feelings, your words. Thank you.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
