    Phoenix That Doesn't Fly

    Dark, confused, cold, glum……
What this Phoenix feels that it is………..
Newly bathed from the hollow waters of light
    It hides the feelings inside
Rundown, torn & disheartened…these feelings burn tonight!

If only the earth could open up its mouth right in front of me
I would willingly jump in despite its darkness…despite its mystery
    I don’t care…I just need to disappear
Let me disappear for just one day…for these things I couldn’t bear!

Inside earth’s caverns will this poor Phoenix hide
Deep beneath its treacherous grotto it will cry
This time she’s not willing to fly
As her wings are clipped dry & her spirit almost dies!

Why do you cry….poor bird of Libran spring
So beautiful, so delicate & a smile to others you always bring!
I’m jealous of some who seem to know their light
True happiness, I know, I will never have that right.

This bird nourishes those thirsty candles alight
But her own desiccated spirit no force could take flight.
She has yet to find a shadow to fly with,
One brave, good, honest soul with no borders to shield.

Unless that soul is there to take these chances
This bird will stay hiding oblivious in those crevices.
Danger to fall apart and never to be free
I’m sorry for this bird….a glimpse of her flight never to be seen.
    Poor phoenix…her fire almost dies

could feel the imagery and the desire to fly if given te chance...the hiding part builds the intensity of the inner struggle that torments...your work carries meaning

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
