Set in stone

There's nothing to it
This changing of the world
Simple times we live in
My friend
You want something
Let yourself have it
You know you want to
The desires of your heart
Control is not mine to understand
Don't dare question me
Or this life of mine
I've ruined enough
It is not I that needs the knowledge
Yet you
I know who I am
My being
You do not feel me
Do not know where I am
Where I came from
The regrets I've made
Don't change me
It won't work
Stop your silly trying
This man is
And always will be
Get over the delusions
Time for an eternal slumber
A time of pure imagination

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
