smoke

Poem Commentary

this is my attempt at describing a train :)

smoke

Hot, sweating fuel

Black as the souls below

A race where there is no end

Just a tear a kiss cannot mend

Man and nature collide

In a feud of old technology

An honest man’s labor

An escape from a friendly neighbor

An abandoned building

Once a lively place for conversation

People come and people go

Directions all the citizens know

Come, climb on quick

Before the metal tracks are bare

All pay a small toll

Where the great fighter taught the tadpole

Soothing noises, bumpy road

Beating or not, does it matter?

You can’t stop a driven mind

When the driven are willingly blind

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
