the doomed in the wood

the doomed in the wood

Have you seen him?

Have you seen my love?

I must find my lost gray dove

The woods are so menacing

The woods now seem so cold

Looking for the hand mine seeks to hold

Have you seen him?

Have you come upon my dear?

Maybe you’ve seen him someplace near

You see, I need him so

He holds my heart in his palm

Until he’s found I’ll never be calm

Have you seen him?

Have you known my sweet?

Since he left my heart’s missed several beats

My darling, come home to me

I run frantic for you

What else must I do?

Have you seen him?

Have you spotted my one?

The one who makes my thoughts come undone

I cry a mad monologue

With no listeners about

I’m surrounded by my nature and doubt

Have you seen him?

Have you heard his cry?

Tell me truthfully, tell me no lies

I mourn my lost love

How dear he is to me

How long must I wait for our eyes to meet?

Have you seen me?

Have you located my heart?

See, he took it when he made his depart

Whilst searching for my love

I lost myself as well

Oh what a sad story I have to tell!
