The Advocate

The adversary began

As the Devil’s advocate

Tempting and sarcastic

“Come with me and eat”

This apple is sweet

Take it and eat it

It is the food of delight

The bitten apple will

Make you feel right

Never giving you

A moment of blight

The unquenchable thirst

Desire is what it’s called

You see I am sent to give

You an opportunity to know

What has been denied?

Take it and eat it

It is good for you

God will never know

Envy he will show

Eat and look upon

Heaven and Earth

Bite the apple and

Be relieved of this

Garden of no feelings

Give your intellect to me

As I am your advocate

For your nature

Take it and eat it and see

“I” the advocate know

       ...BETTER
