THE CHURCH RAT
THE CHURCH RAT
Animal of both domestic and bush features
Of different colour you always come
The white rat, the black rat
There are rats-there are rats
Most piteous of them all- the church rat
Church rat, oh church rats!
Why not lucky as your contemporaries
Your mates in the bush are very lucky
Being blessed with different tubers
With bloom season of no break
But in the morning you wake with hunger
No remains to eat day in day out
No wine to drink even in the temple
But always feeding on what nature provides you
And yet you are always happy
Just because you dwell in a beautiful and holy house
Pessimistic you never have in your words
Hopeful church rat if here on earth failed to favour you
Heaven will definitely do beyond your expectation.
For inside the house of God you dwell for life.
