Poem Commentary

I came up with this poem when everyone I knew lies suddenly came to the surface

Truth

They say the truth will set you free.
That it will make you feel as high as a kite.
That if you reveal you're darkest secrets you'll feel better. More alive. Not true.
It will just leave you feeling confused even a little sad.
Or if you wanted to hear the truth even if it hurt you.
That it will make you feel better about the world...OR at least yours. The truth is the truth hurts more then the lies.
The truth will make you want to cry. Even though all you want to do is hear, Or speak it.
It still hurts.
To know the lies weren't really lies can break you're heart.
It was all you ever thought about.
The weight on you're shoulders.
You're truth, they're truth. It can break you and it might make you cry. The truth is always on you're mind.
It's all you can think about when you're alone.
Eventually you got to say it.
No one wants to go on living a lie.
Cause lies hurt just like the truth.
The truth is a painful trip.
But it's the only thing anyone really cares about.
The truth can destroy the world as you see it forever more.
You can't stop the truth from being spoken.
You don't want to stop it, most of the time.
You want to see what will happen what everyone you care about knows. See if they care.
The truth it can make you or break you. It can make you cry.
The truth has to be heard even if it hurts you.

Thanks for the comment

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
