    Umbrella

    There she stands
Centre stage for all to see
    Tall and slender
    Precariously she balances.

    I reach out for her
    Draw her to me
    My hand skims her body
    Slowly reaching her skirt.

    Playful fingers find hidden areas
    Delighted her legs spring forth
    Displaying the very beauty
    Of her delicately adorned skirt.

    Gaily she dances around
    Dizzily twisting and turning
In the brightness of day shading
She gently tends to my needs.

Personal ballerina takes to toes leaping
    Merrily bobbing up and down
    As emotional to her performance
Clouds cry a thousand tears for her.

    Reaching our destination
    Slightly shaken, she leans
    Watches me quietly drips
    Against the wall.

    Reminiscent of the day's fulfillment
    We acknowledge one another silently
    Restful knowing we shall be
    One once more.

I've always liked it when the conceit of a poem make you want to meet for tea and talk. Harv

Thankyou Harver, a shame you are not closer or tea would have been good, I'd like to have had chance to discuss. To be honest the poem was written more with personification in mind, the conceit side of it only becoming apparent afterwards through a comment. I've still so much to learn... as I venture from this shell! Anna-Marie.

Great poem, my daughter is a professional dancer. I did not quite understand if this poem was about lovers or some other relationship. It seemed a bit vague but maybe I am. Anyway it was an enjoyable read.

Well said, thanks for stopping by to comment! Anna-Marie.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.
