  • Poetry will always emerge out of the shadows of depression, shining like a star in the scarcity of light.

White Feathers, Like Snow (3 Haiku)

White feathers slowly

spiral through the air, like snow,

though I don’t want to

catch them on my tongue

because they’ve fallen from the

marred body of a

dove, which sat perched up

in a tree, and is now gone,

its remains with me.

JACOB, I love that you would preserve and respect those dove feathers. ginga

I , too, started writing poetry at an early age; then life crashed down on me with the fierce demands of our selfish, soul-sucking society put that fire almost out. I adore reading and writing Haiku as well as sonnets; my two most-loved forms of poetic structure. I also was a shy girl, with not many friends, a true introvert. I have found this site to be an outlet for the creative spark refusing to be extinguished entirely; I hope you will find it useful. I love the way you expressed the sadness to be found even although these Haikus express the natural cycle of life. What lies within you is a true gift, so you are beautiful, dearest.

Thank you, I truly appreciate your feedback. Poetry really is the greatest friend; it never leaves, always rising up out of the shadows when needed or summoned. It speaks the words that are sometimes too hard to say to someone in person. I will be sure to read your work. --Natalie.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
