Knowing

Knowing

Knowing to help a friend in need,

Knowing when to do a good deed.

Knowing when not to do for gain,

Knowing when a friend is in pain.

Knowing to care for a child that fell,

Knowing to when a secret not to tell.

Knowing to give respect to another,

Knowing how to treat your mother.

Knowing how to teach a child to play,

Knowing how to have grace not to delay.

Knowing how to no ridicule to poke,

Knowing how to share in a joke.

Knowing how to join in the fun,

Know there is no need for a gun.

Knowing how to share some love,

Knowing how to thank the one above.

Gods, Knowing is certainly the first step, then the doing the right thing is next. This poem should appear in the student's handbook in every school in America. Somehow I think this type of literature would stick better then the jargon I read in those manuals. ginga

pehaps in schooling The word learning should be substituted for knowing, the problem is adults should KNOW better

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
