    Mind Searching

Lights are shining brightly, times shifting through my mind.
Outside it’s raining lightly and I’m just doing time.
There are shadows on the ceiling, echoes in the halls.
Memories revealing, some times I can’t recall.

Trapped in the past, things not done or said.
I can’t see a future, mustn’t speak evil of the dead.
Life should have more to offer but I can’t catch a glimpse.
Seems that the answer is just beyond my finger tips.

Searching for my destiny is there life beyond these walls.
Can I pick up the pieces and leave here standing tall?

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
