My Heart

  • Lost Love

    My Heart

    I gave you my love.
    But you tossed it away.
    With lies, broken promises and the games that you play.

    You say you love me.
    But I see the truth;
    They’re only words,
    Each time an excuse.

    You cause me pain again and again.
    Then you wonder why – I won’t be your friend.

    I gave you my heart and I took a chance.
    Thought we had something special.
    A forever romance.

    I gave you my heart and what did you do.
    You tossed it away.
    So I’m done with you.

    Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

    Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
