    Never

I promised myself I would never let you
Go once I had you in my arms.
I thought you were as true as I was.
I trusted you. I needed you.
My feelings got stronger every time you
    Touched me.
I thought you felt the same.
Your hands got tighter, your body hotter,
    your kisses longer.
    I thought it was real.
I tried to hold on because I thought
    You wouldn't hurt me again.
    I was in love.
But, more like blinded by lies.
Was it a lie? A game?
When you held me did you want
    me there? In your arms?
I felt you slipping away so I
    tried to hold on.
    But I disturbingly learned,
    You can't hold onto something
    You never had.

    Let it go, it returns.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
