    You Try To Go On

    You can't hide it
    The pain within your heart
from the one who did it
    Who ripped your world apart

Who shreds your soul to fragments
    A kiss with every piece
    To memories, a faithful servant
Pulling you painfully piece by piece

The words "I truly love you"
    Have little meaning now
because devastatingly you've found they're untrue
    and you're still wondering how

How can someone be so cruel
    Yet so convincing too
And keep you feeling like a fool
Everytime they say they want you

You try to go on living
    Knowing they'll never stay
but sorrow they'll keep on giving
because painful memories never go away

Transmute it like you are here, grow life from within it.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
