On The Solid Rock I Stand

I will stretch forth my hands unto thee my Lord,

For I long to feel thy touch.

When the enemy comes to put down my soul,

And make my heart feel desolate.

Quicken me to hear thy voice, and know thy loving kindness,

That you might guide and lead me Lord,

Into thy land of sweet uprightness.

Every day I will speak blessings, for thy name brings hope to me,

    Your greatness is unsearchable,

    Full of honor and majesty.

No other God is like you, thou art holy in all thy works,

    Open your hand and satisfy,

As my soul for you doth thirst.

O, I will put my trust in you my Lord,

NOT IN THE SONS OF MAN,

And happy will my heart be,

When on the Solid Rock I stand.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
