    Whispers of Love

As I walked the land of Zion,

A gentle breeze brushed over me,

And the wind it seemed to whisper,

I love the land you see.

    Oh dwellers of Jerusalem

Thy tears have touched my heart,

My favor I will grant thee

And my love to thee impart.

Thy stony hills shall call my name

And no longer shall you weep,

Every promise that I made to thee,

As a father I will keep.

Thy ears will hear me calling,

This is the way, come walk with me.

My increase I will grant thee,

For I will rain upon thy seed.

A new song will I give thee,

Gladness of heart within the night.

Upon my mountain you shall know me,

    My mercies there impart.

I will grant thee peaceful habitation,

In sure dwellings you shall rest.

With a wind of quiet, calm assurance,

    You will know my righteousness.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
