Bride

Bride

Once, on a lovely day
That was full of spring and life
There was a happy bride
Who wore a happy smile

For many a year she had planned
And now everything would go her way.
But she didn’t see what was in the shadows
That had watched her all the while.

The bride only thought of the vows she’d say
Now that she was to have her wedding.
All her happiness made the shadow lurker gay
With the thought of tossing it all aside.

It was a very sad day in May,
When a joyous bride had died.

Sad indeed. Short and to the point. Reminds me of the Carrie Underwood video where her dress changes.

Poetry is what is lost in translation.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
