    Enchanting

Why does it come so easily?
Just chatting as if there wasn't an elephant in the room
    Hovering right over me.
I kept catching myself laughing (happily?)
    And again
Forgetting that I was nervous (so nervous).
You just kept on "babbling" and
    I just kept on listening
(As if being lulled back out to sea?)
How am I to focus on my needs, my pain, my concerns
    When you are so comforting?
    How can I stand firm
    When I don't want to?
When those 18 minutes (would one more have made it fate?)
Make me want to see you today,
Make me want to hold your hand,
And just sit and talk, discuss politics,
    (Maybe flirt a little?)
How you do you do that?
It seems to come so naturally as if you were made to
    Enchant me.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
