    Everyday Soldiers

    Beneath the starlit crimson sky
Soldiers lining the ourskirts of the city
    Donning their own clotet's creations
    They're just ordinary people

They have a meaning and a purpose
    Recruiting people of the world
They are us and we are them
    Standing

They stand for love and they stand for peace
They stand for you and they stand for me
They stand for hope and they stand for rights
They stand for victory but they will not fight

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
