Hard to Believe

  • is unsure if the poetry I've written lately is too angsty/private/poorly written to post or not. Hmmmm.

Hard to Believe

Her friends say she's pretty
Her mom says she's cute
Her best friend says she's beautiful
But she finds it unbelievable

She talks to everyone she sees
She listens to their problems
She hands out pieces of herself
Leaving her heart on the shelf

No problem to big for her to solve
No matter what she helps her friends
No one sees the pain inside
Pain she always tries to hide

Everyone tells her she's cool
Everything she does is for them
Every once in a while she smiles
And she feels okay for a while

She looks at her best friend
She considers her life
She thinks about what she loves
All her blessings from above

Is that so hard to believe?

kinda melancholy but at the same time thought provoking.

That is not hard to believe at all. "She hands out pieces of herself / Leaving her heart on the shelf" All the best poems come from somewhere deep inside, I think.

Isn't that what makes it art? :p

Thanks! That was the main idea of the story. :)

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
