    • is unsure if the poetry I've written lately is too angsty/private/poorly written to post or not. Hmmmm.

    High Standards

Let me tell you about someone
Who should be an example for all men
Someone that you should think about
Before you start to date again
    Anyone who doesn't imitate him
    Shouldn't be in the running

    He calls you beautiful
    He sacrificed for you
    He thinks you're wonderful
    He's always there for you
    And anyone who isn't
    Shouldn't be in the running

    He knows you're gorgeous
He makes you smile when no one else can
    He never lets you go
    He loves everything about you
    And anyone who doesn't
    Shouldn't even be considered

He cares so much about you
He gave his life to save you
He made the world and then
    He loved you more
    And anyone who wouldn't
    Shouldn't even be considered

They don't always have to ryme if they flow well, so work on the flow a little bit more, the thought snd feelings are there, areally good startt!!!

Thanks! I'm trying to find a good balance between structure and flow, and I'm (obviously) not there yet.

I like this one. It doesn't always rhyme and it doesn't always scan. But it illuminates.

I know about you and the rhyming. .

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
