     Lord I'm tryin, Babe.
    I want to stay alive
    doin all I can to survive
    them floodwaters keep risin in your heart

    I'm tryin, Babe.
    It's playin out like a country song
    Bittersweet
    Oh that sweet mellow tone

    Don't you know I'm tryin, Babe?
    It's your heart that's the metronome
    the beat against my heart
    its why I don't feel so lonesome

    Can't you see me strugglin, Babe?
    This is what a slow dance will do to a man.
    I can't slow down
    I'm fallin for you
    But sometimes your words are like you don't give a damn.

    Then when I think you just don't care
    you run your fingers through my hair.
    Your scent courses through my viens
    and you have me.
    I want you all the same.

    You act like the world exists when we're not alone.
    When all I do is stare and stumble.
    I'm in that room with you all alone.
    You treat me like I'm just part of the crowd.

    Then when everybody's gone.
    It melts away
    And I'm tryin, Babe
    I just can't wait.
