    Grandfather

Through the years and the tears you stood beside me.
You shared stories and knowledge with me.
Wisdom was always given when I was in need of advice.
Memories were made that will never leave my heart.
You held my hand when I needed strength.
A hug was always there when I was down.
You were more of a father figure than a grandfather.
Now that I'm grown I wanted you to know,
    What you mean to me.
I love you and always will.
I'm sorry for all the bad things I've done.
I'm sorry for any pain I may have caused.
Please forgive me and remember I love you.
This is just for you, from a grandchild, who loves you dear.
    Goodbye Grandfather,
    I will see again.

As a grandfather myself of four grandchildren I can truly appreciate the love of a granddaughter for her grandfather, which is nicely portrayed in this poem. Is your grandfather now gone? I got the sense at the end that he is.

Yes my grandfather is gone. Thank you for all the nice and encouraging comments.

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.
