    IF GRANNY COULDN'T PRAY

Although prayer is her weapon of choice,
She keeps a ready arsenal of meditation.
Ready to be used in certain events that escalate.
For those acts requiring an extra dose of unseen patients!

So if Granny couldn’t pray for you and me,
She would simply meditate on the goodness of the Lord,
While motioning for God to demand that Old Devil to flee,
All as she keeps the faith just for poor little you and me.
Prayer is only one weapon that Granny holds to.
Her Faith tossed her into this Holy War years ago.
Pains so deep, and her journey so so long.
    But if Granny couldn’t pray-
She would simply hold to the faith, until it leads her on.

Wow! It makes me think so much of my own Grandma, who I loved and held so dear. She was a missionary in China and Russia. Journeyed to the Middle East in faith, as well. She lived 93 years and every minute kept close to God. An inspiration and source of all goodness she was to me and so many others. thanks for sharing your words. Bless her soul and yours for writing this interpretation. 10 for feeling!

A praying Granny is a rare thing. But there are still some of them...I'm one. Beautiful poem, and a great tribute to your Granny.

I am glad this poem had some extra meaning for you. It really made me feel good that someone would get an emotional release from this poem. It is my prayer that you keep the good memories of your Granny alive in your spirit and heart. This is one of the poems I will be including in the poetry volume that I am publishing in late August of this year.

"But if Granny couldn't pray she would simply hold to faith---" Great line. Well done. Almost all Grannys are an inspiration.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
