So Close

Poem Commentary

Nowadays, folks would have called this type of relationship abusive, I don't know about that, but I do know that love is blind as a bat sometimes!

So Close

So close, and yet so far

The feeling is so strange

To be close enough to your love

And yet not be able to touch him

Once the touching was so easy

The touching so dear and thrilling

Now the need is still there

But the ability to touch is not

So close, and yet so far

Living in the same house

But we may as well be states apart

Begging for each bit of affection

So close, and yet so far

But I still love you so

I will stay so close, and yet so far

Glad that it connected and thank you.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
