War of Balance

Poem Commentary

'Tis about balance. Dark and Light, Chaos and Law, and mayhap, even, Good and Evil... But which is the Good and which the Evil? December '09.

War of Balance

See him standing is his regal light
Showing reasons to reflect on life
Speaking words of justice, so wise
Forbidding sins; murder, lust and lies

See him guard with that frightful care
A stiff, warning presence is in the air
Be wary as you pass this place of law
Do not take lightly, his quiet calls

When Night falls and he turns and leaves
Another arises so that he may retrieve
Such beauty that only the night can show
A wild beauty that only he shall know

Bearing a sword of the blackest tone
So surreal is he that walks here alone
Relieving lovers’ tears for some time
‘Til the dawn arrives again to refine

Anger swells within his darkened mind
Determination is how the light is defined
Law and Chaos strives for their control
The battle has once again taken its toll

Standing tall and facing the other one
As the moon rises slowly to meet the sun
They slowly cross the open plain
To meet each other in battle once again

In unison they raise their swords high
Their swords clash like a thunderous sky
And as their battle once more begins
The world in violence as though the end

The angels fight on, equally balanced
Frightful determination for the chance
To stop this endless war once and for all
But for this to be, the other must fall

But soon they tire, and can battle no more
For both had taken wounds of noble score
Their swords lower, both and neither in defeat
And bow their heads to the other’s great feat

Though both knew that neither would ever win
They still try, rest to recover to start again
Taking their leave; they turn from each other
As does the sun and moon depart together

See him standing is his regal light
Showing reasons to reflect on life
Speaking words of justice, so wise
Forbidding sins; murder, lust and lies

When Night fall and he turns to leave
Another arises so that he may retrieve
Such beauty that only the night can show
A wild beauty that only he shall know
