A sign of Rebirth for me

Poem Commentary

The Turkey Buzzard has such a special meaning to me. When my Pop passed it was hard for us. A friend who could connect to the other side passed a message to me. Pop said he would send the Turkey birds to me. It took me awhile to figure this out. I would go walking almost every day and one of these huge birds would fly directly over me. One day the same bird flew over me twice and then flew far off. I said "Hey Pop how about another fly by?" That bird turned around instantly and soared the 1/4 mile right back to me. Directly over my head. The message was received, my loving Pop was watching over me. Written for my POP who gave me proof that not only he, but the beings of light watch over me daily. Love you Pop and thank you for being part of my life and spiritual growth.

A sign of Rebirth for me

We are graceful, but not very pretty to most.
At times we regard you silently from our post.
Some look upon us with a feeling of disgust.
That is because they have no understanding of us.

We are grateful for what remains at the end of life.
For it supplies us with what we need to survive.
To help us continue our important work.
If not for our habits you would see,
much more disgusting things then me.

When we circle above, it seems so lazily.
We are honing in on the next job to be.
Once in flight, we rarely use much energy.
We catch the thermals and can soar almost endlessly.

We are an important servent to thee.
We clean up after a death you see.
We use our sense of smell the most,
this is because we can't see as well as most.

We do not use a nest that sits in a tree.
For we rely on our great adaptability.
We nest on the ground under a bush,
a old stump or a hollowed out tree.

So next time you see me circling above,
take a moment to admire my grace and beauty.
See the ease in which I soar the skys.
Think of how different and ugly things would be,
if God chose not to create a being such as me.

I am Majestic you see.
For this poet sees the beauty in me.
I circle her close and tip my wings to say hi.
She looks upon me with a smile and twinkle in her eye.
She knows I watch over her daily you see.
I am a sign of her rebirth and the growth of her spiritualality.

A beautiful poem that expresses the diversity in beauty. 'All God's creatures great and small.' Enjoy the insight as to how life would be with out these winged ones.

Thank you for commenting. There is beauty in everything, we only need to look.

I see them soaring in the sky or next to road kill and just took them for granted; it was interesting to see how another person views the birds.

Never thought of them that way before. They appear to fly without any effort. Thanks for the insight.

Thank you for the comment. I wanted to share more about these amazing birds, but I didn't want the poem to get too long.

I think this is a good poem that is well rounded you made something that most see unflattering and made it very spiritual and heart warming very well done if I do say so Plot121...

Thank you Plot. Glad you discovered just what I wanted to express.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
