A Very Special Hill

Poem Commentary

This was a memory of a very special man who is with the Lord today.

A Very Special Hill

Hand in hand, and eye to eye

A sunny day in an Arkansas sky.

We climbed upon your Indian hill

Where time and angels once stood still.

I felt as though we were in a dream

Remembering all our childhood schemes

We fell in love again that day

As heaven and earth came out to play.

I will never, ever, once forget

When we first kissed as the sun did set

Sounds of music swayed with love’s full moon

As you and I sang our favorite tune!

From an Arkansas hill up to heaven’s throne

Like a feather up to God's home

I wish my human eyes could see

The castle where he waits for me.

We’ll climb that hill again some day

As the earth's domain shall melt away

Hand in hand with mirrored mind

I'll love you ‘till the end of time!

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
