    Cinderella's Plight

    Fairy Grandma she did see
    Gave this dreamer one decree;
    Princess she would be tonight,
    In search for her heart's one delight.

    But as she danced, it was her plight;
    Dreams like this last just one night.
    The clock struck twelve and she did flee,
    Was this one wish not meant to be?

    The smile she had turned to a frown,
    As rags replaced her evening gown.
    Pumpkin limo turned back to mice
    It just was not a pretty sight!

    With heavy heart she did her chores;
    Wept each night behind closed doors;
    Her one true love should never know,
    His princess lived on pauper’s row.

    Long days and nights she waded through,
    Waiting for her love so true,
    Ugly step-sisters daily schemed,
    They didn’t know where she had been.

    Her heart and mind now rest assured,
    That some day he would come for her,
    And when he did, he tried the shoe;
    It fit her foot and looked brand new!

    Glass slipper she had left behind
    Was still intact and still size nine,
    Custom fit, it was the same,
    The shoe told that she was the dame!

    The princess stepped down on the floor,
    Her clear, glass slipper glittered more;
    Fairy Grandma became real life,
    To grant this child her wish tonight!

    Please read my new poem, Wildflowers, and give me a rating on it. Thanks!

    If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
