Poem Commentary

This poem was of an experience that I had with a fellow who could draw really well. He liked my poems and I liked his art. Somehow, though, I lost track of him! If you are out there, I would love to find you again! Silly me!

Two hearts combined, one starry night,

I watched them from my car door light,

When at the Sonic they did meet,

A Coney and some fries to eat.

They ate fast food inside their car

And spoke of things both near and far,

She listened ‘till the man was through,

Then read to him a poem or two.

He grabbed a napkin, pen in hand

And sketched the girl in the hamburger stand,

For all his life he’d always seen,

A picture paints a thousand dreams.

“Your poetry,” he quickly chimed

“Is indeed a real rare find!”

And when he inked his final touch,

His pad reflected inasmuch.

Sweet poems arose from deep within,

That grew like berries on a limb,

Poetry was a part of her,

Like art and color, a part of him.

Their fame soon spread throughout the land,

The lad and lass in the hamburger stand.

Together born to draw and write,

Their craft did brighten cold, dark nights.

Who was this pair I spied afar,

That spoke as one within their car?

Our hearts afire with hopes and dreams,

It's plain to see, it's you and me!

the mystery of the poem I found in the last line. a beautiful poem which talks about two hearts which beat like one. In life we sometimes another whose sentiments blend into one. I love it . a 10 from me.

Yes, that one has been a work in progress for over a year. It's like a short story edited down into a poem. Thanks for your vote of confidence.

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
