    • My writings are far and fewer between these days. At least I've started working on refining what I post.

    Lay Me To Rest

I'm tired now, I wish that I could rest
And not wake with ciggerets and stale liquor on my breath
I'm weary of thoughts that leave my mind intwined in a mess
And I'm tired of fearing madness will be my death

I'm so tired now, and most I miss the dreams
Most nights bring darkness, worse than the nightmares seem
I miss the world where it was somewhate serene
Oh, I miss those nights when I could dream

I ache so much, it feels my bones should break
But there's so much left to do, and much more at stake
Push forward now, whatever it might take
All I feel is pain, no love, no hate

I'm so tired now, just let me lay here for a bit
So many promises I wish I could forget
I've failed them all and the thoughts make me sick
And my time keeps moving but I no longer here it tick

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
