    • My writings are far and fewer between these days. At least I've started working on refining what I post.

    Poem Commentary

Kind of shaky, might be refined a lot.. if not scratched completely but I wanted to add it while it was fresh in my mind.

    Why Be A Hero?

    Do you remember me?
    That fading glimpse of memory?
    More than another face
Simply the one that set you free

Why should I care to try?
Save another to be told the lies
A memory, left alone to die
But at least you no longer have to cry

You wouldn't dare call me a hero
Call me your numero uno zero
I give you whatever I can, though
    You'll leave when I'm done, I know

I do it for you now, so smile
I don't care, this sacrifice is a blessing
And in the end I'll wonder the world alone
But it could just be this hero guessing.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
